Like most people of my generation, I grew up with dreams of space exploration.

I faithfully watched Star Trek and learned the lessons of tolerance, open-mindedness,

and world cooperation. I swallowed this crap up like a good, naive, and quixotic little

twit. Looking back now, I can't believe that I actually thought the government would

ever flip the bill for something as romantic as space exploration. This cold war

endeavor is now, and always has been a method for developing surveillance and

weapon technology.
